Dr. Matthew Wallace

Matthew Wallace has been working in the science policy field for over a decade. Currently, as a Senior Program Specialist at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), based in Ottawa, Canada, his focus is on issues broadly related to science systems, including engineering education, science advice to governments, granting agencies, industrial research collaboration, and careers of scientists. Matthew has Masters' degrees both in Physics and in Science and Technology Studies, as well as a Ph.D. in the History of Science. His research in the field has focused mainly on indicators for science, research portfolio management, and the history of scientific disciplines. He also previously worked as a science policy advisor and an evaluation officer at a Canadian ministry and granting agency.

Huge congratulations to our 10 finalists and to team  Koye Hydro who emerged ahead of over 40 teams as the Winner of the S2PAfrica EDC 2022, taking home $10,000 IDRC grand prize and $2000 from Cummins West Africa, to fund the development of their project as well as teams KeyTrick and Improved Charcoal Stove came in second and third respectively.

A new bar has been set and we can’t wait for EDC 2023.
